In 2015, the pediatric cardiologist had been employed at a clinic in Jönköping for just over a year. When a three-month-old heart-sick boy was to be treated, the doctor prescribed a dose of diuretic medicine – which was ten times too high.
When the boy came home, he became yellowish in the skin and vomited. The parents contacted the hospital and were then told that the dose was too high. The responsible doctor contacted the parents, but did not tell them about his mistake. Instead, he said that the boy was probably allergic to the medicine.
When the incident was revealed, a lex Maria investigation was initiated. The clinic had "tough talks" with the pediatrician, says the head of operations to P4 Jönköping.
Despite this, the doctor was allowed to continue working at the clinic. He was later appointed as a senior physician. P4 Jönköping revealed in September that the man had incorrectly declared 78 heart-sick children healthy over several years.
