Four people were in the Norwegian-registered car that ended up on its roof in the water.

Both Norwegian rescue services and Swedish rescue services from Abisko and Riksgränsen participated in the rescue effort. One person was flown to the hospital in Tromsö by helicopter.

The car was driving towards Narvik from the Swedish border and went off the road between Sirkelvattnet and Nedre Jernvatnet, reports the local newspaper Fremover.

One of the affected people alerted authorities to the accident just before 18:30 on Monday, writes NTB.
