Building Walls and Two Genders: These Are Trump's First Decisions

The right to citizenship at birth is withdrawn

Children born in the USA to migrants without the right to reside in the country will no longer receive citizenship. This also applies to children of parents who are in the USA on temporary work, student, and tourist visas.

The order is expected to face legal challenges, as the right to citizenship at birth is enshrined in the USA's constitution.

A state of emergency is declared at the border with Mexico

Security at the border will be strengthened and the construction of a wall against Mexico will be resumed. The US military will deploy forces at the border and detention facilities will be established.

Asylum seekers who had scheduled meetings via the app used by the Biden administration were met with a shut-down app just minutes after Trump was sworn in.

.

Congress stormers are pardoned

The majority of those convicted or charged with storming the Capitol in January 2021 will be pardoned. A total of over 1,500 people are covered by the order.

For 14 people – nine of them members of the extremist group Oath Keepers and five in Proud Boys – their sentences will be shortened. This means that all those involved in the congressional storming will soon be free.

.

The USA will have two genders

From now on, according to Trump, there will be two genders in the USA: man and woman.

Trump also revoked Joe Biden's order allowing trans people to serve in the US army, as well as directives aimed at preventing discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Funding for Biden's project on inclusion, equality, and diversity in the federal government, among other things, is being withdrawn.

.

The USA is leaving the Paris Agreement

Trump has signed a letter to the UN to withdraw the USA from the Paris Agreement on climate. The decision is described by critics as a blow to the fight against global warming.

The USA also left the climate agreement during Trump's first term, but rejoined under Biden.

.

The USA is leaving the WHO

According to a presidential order, the USA is leaving the World Health Organization (WHO). The reason cited, among other things, is that WHO demands "disproportionate" payments from the USA, compared to, for example, China.

Trump began the process of withdrawing from WHO in 2020, after he directed sharp criticism at the organization's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

.

Tiktok's deadline is extended

Through a presidential order, Tiktok's Chinese parent company Bytedance is given an additional 75 days to find an American buyer.

According to Trump, it may be enough for the USA to own half of Tiktok.

.

Elon Musk made a notable greeting

Trump's supporter Elon Musk's greeting with a fist bump followed by a raised right arm on stage during the inauguration has sparked strong reactions.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk made the gesture to the audience at the Capitol One Arena during a brief speech.

Some call it a Roman salute, others see a fascist salute, while some see it as an emotional expression. On Twitter, Musk himself rejects the criticism and calls it "tiresome".
