"The UK bond and currency markets were shaken when parts of the UK budget were published prematurely by mistake by the country's budget authority. It is a great disappointment and a serious mistake on their part," says UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves as she begins her budget speech.

The Finance Minister then confirms details of a comprehensive tax package that is expected to increase the country's tax revenue by £26 billion in 2029–2030. Among other things, houses worth over £2 million, equivalent to SEK 25 million, will be taxed in a new way. There will also be changes to gambling tax and the tax on electric cars.

It was the budget authority OBR's prematurely published forecasts that caused parts of the country's budget to be leaked prematurely. The authority apologizes on its website and says it is investigating the incident. The authority, which was formed 15 years ago, has never before published budget figures prematurely.

The British pound strengthens again against several other currencies during the Finance Minister's speech.
