During the fourth quarter, 21 percent fewer laid-off workers applied for help from the organisation: 5,000 compared with 6,300 in the same quarter last year. The decrease is particularly noticeable among employees in construction, trade and temporary employment agencies, which is usually an early signal that the economy has turned for the better.
Bankruptcies have also fallen somewhat.
"After several years, we are now seeing clearer signs of stabilization," says TSL CEO Caroline Söder in a statement.
TSL helps people made redundant from blue-collar jobs find new employment. If people have even a relatively recent connection to the labour market, it is usually relatively easy to find their way back, and it is faster now than a year ago, according to the organisation's statistics. Just over nine out of ten find new employment within a year of losing their old job.
