All five judges approved the indictment.

The Supreme Court was on Wednesday on its second day of deliberations on whether Bolsonaro should be prosecuted on five counts or not, one of the counts being the coup attempt.

According to AP, Bolsonaro is also accused of systematically sowing distrust of the electoral system, inciting riots, and pressuring high-ranking military officers to retain presidential power despite losing the election to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The coup charge alone can carry a sentence of up to twelve years. In combination with other crimes that Bolsonaro is accused of, he can be sentenced to several decades in prison if convicted.

The former president has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
