"It's a fantastic award to win and I'm very happy to receive it. I've had a good year and I want to continue to develop, but receiving the award as the defender of the year shows that I've had a very good year," said Björn, who wins the award for the second year in a row, in a statement.
Daniel Svensson, starting player for both German Borussia Dortmund and the national team:
"It means an incredible amount of time, of course. It's a testament to the fact that you've performed well during the year and that hard work pays off. I'm proud and grateful for the trust I've received from both the club and national teams," he says.
