Billionaire’s Son Sentenced to 12 Years for Murder of Stepmother, Baroness Myriam Ullens

A murder case that has rocked Belgium has been solved. The son of a billionaire has been sentenced to prison for the murder of his stepmother, Baroness Myriam Ullens.

Nicolas Ullens was found guilty of murder in October. On Wednesday, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison, according to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir.

The baroness was found dead in her car near Brussels in March 2023, with several bullet wounds to her head. Her husband - the murderer’s father - was sitting next to her, in shock and with an injured leg.

Nicolas Ullens, a former intelligence officer, has confessed to the murder and cited years of disputes over the family’s wealth. The family is one of the richest in Belgium.

Ullens has often appeared in the Belgian media. After working for the security service until 2018, he accused former Foreign Minister Didier Reynders of corruption. An ongoing investigation into Reynders has revealed possible links to Russia.
