Beyoncé allows Kamala Harris to use "Freedom" as an official campaign song. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been given the thumbs down by Village People earlier, but still dances to their disco hit "YMCA."

World star Beyoncé is known for being strict when it comes to who gets to use her music. But after Kamala Harris played her "Freedom" during her first appearance in Delaware on Monday, the artist's approval came quickly. Beyoncé also immediately approved the use of the song throughout Kamala Harris' entire presidential campaign, writes CNN.

Beyoncé has long supported Biden and other Democratic presidential candidates. She sang the US national anthem at Barack Obama's presidential inauguration and performed with her husband Jay-Z at a concert in support of Hillary Clinton.

Mixing in Harris

Other stars who have expressed their support for Kamala Harris include Cardi B, Janelle Monáe, Ariana Grande, John Legend, British Charli XCX, and "White House" creator Aaron Sorkin.

Artist Katy Perry is one of those who have jumped on a viral trend of remixing in a laughing Kamala Harris and her famous statement about a coconut tree in one of her songs, "Woman's world".

The coconut reference comes from a speech last year where Harris talks about the importance of focusing on young people. She cites her mother as saying: "I don't know what's wrong with you young people, do you think you just fell from a coconut tree?"

"Fucking funnyyy"

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has had a more difficult relationship with music stars. Many artists have been upset over his public use of their music. Artists such as R.E.M., Rolling Stones, Adele, Elton John, and Neil Young are just a few of those who have protested.

Disco band Village People have repeatedly asked Donald Trump to stop using their songs "Macho man" and "YMCA". The latter has gone viral since a clip of Trump dancing to it was spread and ridiculed by critics – but is still frequently used by Republicans.

There are also music stars who have expressed their support for Donald Trump: such as country star Loretta Lynn, hard rock guitarist Ted Nugent, hip-hop artist Kanye West, and rapper and songwriter Azealia Banks, who recently participated in a Trump meeting in Florida. She has commented on her support by saying Trump is “fucking funnyyy”.
