AIK's wing Dino Besirovic was sent off in the training match against Sirius last week. The 31-year-old ended up in a scuffle with an opponent and became aggressive towards Sirius' Melker Heier.
Now a decision has been made regarding the situation.
Besirovic is suspended during the period of June 27 and July 7, which means he will miss three Allsvenskan matches. Against IFK Göteborg, Halmstad, and Degerfors.
The disciplinary board motivates its decision as follows:
"The disciplinary board has, in addition to the report, taken part in a statement, film clips, and pictures. The board finds that Besirovic takes a stranglehold on the opponent's neck for a not insignificant amount of time and seeks out the opponent's forehead but cannot discern any head-butting movement. For what happened, Besirovic should be punished with a suspension".
Dino Besirovic has started eleven of 13 Allsvenskan matches for AIK this season.
AIK has announced that they choose to appeal the decision to the Swedish Football Association's appeals board.
