On Thursday, the BBC's chairman Samir Shah announced that the company's board has continued confidence in Tim Davie, writes Deadline.

The board highlights Davie's "swift action" when the punk duo Bob Vylan in the BBC's live broadcast chanted "death to IDF".

The abbreviation stands for Israel's military.

Davie is said to be under heavy pressure. An anonymous BBC employee tells Deadline that the CEO risks getting into "trouble" if the ongoing police investigation into Bob Vylan shows that the band has committed a crime.

Other people who Deadline has spoken to testify to an internal division - some think that the BBC is controlled by Israeli interests, others that the company is in cahoots with "anti-Semitic terrorists".

The BBC has been criticized for its decision not to broadcast the documentary Gaza: doctors under attack. The decision, which was motivated by the fact that the film risked raising questions about the channel's impartiality, is seen as a sign that the BBC is afraid to be critical of Israel.

Earlier in the week, the newspaper The Guardian reported that more than 100 BBC employees are demanding the resignation of board member Robbie Gibbs, due to concerns that he may influence reporting on Gaza in Israel's favor.
