The issue concerns the editing of the speech that Trump gave and which was shown in the documentary “Panorama.” The editing, where two parts of the speech were cut together, gives the impression that the president directly calls for violence before the storming of the Capitol building.
The program was broadcast last year and was produced by an independent company.
Trump said Wednesday that it was his "duty" to sue the BBC. Later that evening, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said outside lawyers connected to Trump had filed a lawsuit.
However, it was not clear where the lawsuit was filed and what it looks like in detail.
