When asked whether any government negotiations are underway, he says that "there are contacts" without wanting to go into what they consist of, or with whom.
On Monday afternoon, Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson will inform the newly elected speaker about the progress of the assignment she received from the current speaker, Andreas Norlén, on September 18. She may request more time, for example, to make progress in efforts to form a government.
It is not clear who will be the new speaker. The new members of the Riksdag will elect a new speaker and three deputy speakers after the session on Monday. The Social Democrats have made it clear that Andreas Norlén, who is a Moderate and has been speaker since 2018, cannot retain their confidence unless the post goes to someone from the Riksdag's largest party - the Social Democrats.
S group leader Lena Hallengren says that there is no candidate yet, at least not one that the four red-green parties support.
If we were done now, we would have a press conference, so there's a little left, says Hallengren.
