"In order to create a cultural life that reaches everyone, it is necessary that more people feel represented, included and welcome – in content, language and treatment," says Kulturrådets generaldirektör Kajsa Ravin in a press release.
There is a large interest in culture in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas, especially among young people and also people with a foreign background. According to the report, experiences that can lead to a distancing from cultural activities in the future. Even a lack of representation can mean a limitation for those who are interested in culture.
Kulturrådet also points out that many residents in areas with socio-economic challenges participate in culture in different languages, and emphasizes the importance of a "linguistically inclusive cultural offer".
