According to fresh statistics from UC, the number of bankruptcies decreased by a total of 2 percent in the whole country during May compared to the same period last year. The construction industry saw an even larger decrease of 3 percent during the same period.
UC calls the figures a "cautious trend break" in a press release. They also highlight that the proportion of companies that have gone bankrupt within the hotel and restaurant industry has increased by 13 percent and within wholesale trade by 61 percent.
"The future prospects for bankruptcies in Sweden are marked by uncertainty. Tariffs, global unrest, and decreased domestic consumption can dampen demand, while interest rate cuts provide some room for recovery. The development ahead depends to a high degree on households' decisions - whether they increase their consumption or continue to prioritize saving – and on how companies adapt their investments and priorities in the new situation", says Amanda Aldestam, analyst at UC in the press release.
