Several people have been injured in Russian robot and drone attacks on the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, on Saturday night, according to Ukrainian authorities. The air raid sirens sounded for over seven hours.

Debris from downed projectiles has rained down on residential buildings in western Kyiv, according to the city's military leadership. Neighborhoods in northern and eastern Kyiv have also been affected, and fires have broken out in several locations.

According to Mayor Vitalij Klytjko, the city has been attacked with both rockets and drones. Residents were urged to seek shelter. At least 17 people have been injured in Kyiv and surrounding areas.

Air raid sirens have also wailed in several other Ukrainian regions. Ukraine has been attacked with 250 Russian drones and 14 ballistic rockets, writes Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj on X.

"It is obvious that Russia must be subjected to much harder pressure to get results and initiate real diplomacy", he writes.

Kyiv resident Jurij Bondarsjuck tells AP that he heard sirens and saw drones flying around "just like usual". Shortly after, a loud bang was heard and shattered glass spread through the air.

The balcony is gone, as well as the windows and doors, says Jurij Bondarsjuck.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha notes that Russia has still not sent over its promised terms for a peace agreement. Instead, the country is firing drones and rockets at civilians, he says on X.

"This is Russia's response to international peace efforts and clear evidence that greater sanctions pressure on Moscow is necessary to accelerate the peace process", writes Sybiha.
