Göransson added to his already large collection of awards with a statuette for the music for the vampire horror film "Sinners." Earlier this month, he won two Grammys for the same film and could also win at the Oscars on March 15.

Skarsgård's performance in the Norwegian film "Sentimental Value" has previously earned him an Oscar nomination, a Golden Globe and an EFA (European Film Academy Award). Now the award for best supporting actor went to Sean Penn in "One Battle After Another." However, Joachim Trier's family drama was named best foreign film.

Paul Thomas Anderson's thriller "One Battle After Another" was the big winner at the gala with six awards, including Best Film and best director for Anderson.

The award for best actress went, as expected, to Jessie Buckley in "Hamnet," while Robert Aramayo was a more unexpected winner for "I Swear."

BAFTA, the British Academy Film Awards, are Britain's equivalent of the Oscars and are usually seen as an indicator of how the Oscar statuettes may be distributed in March.
