Pournouri is suing the company of Tim "Avicii" Bergling's relatives and claims that he has been identified as responsible for Bergling's mental illness and suicide, writes the Norwegian Dagens Næringsliv.
Pournouri believes that the documentary "Avicii: True Stories", which came out in 2017, and two books have falsely portrayed him as responsible for Tim Bergling's death, including by forcing the artist to tour against his will.
Pournouri says in an official statement that the lawsuit was a last resort, and that he has tried to handle the matter privately with the family:
"I have remained silent out of respect for Tim, but the same consideration has not been shown to me. Court is the only way for the truth to come to the surface," he writes in a statement.
Pournouris also writes that the purpose of the lawsuit is not financial compensation but redress, and that any financial compensation will be donated to charity.
Tim "Avicii" Bergling passed away in 2018, aged 28. Ash and Avicii's collaboration ended in 2016.
In addition to his management career, Arash "Ash" Pournouri is also a jury member on TV4's "Idol".
