It is extremely unlikely that the captain would not have noticed that his ship both dropped its anchor and dragged it behind and lost speed for several hours, says an investigator according to the newspaper.

For a week, the Chinese ship Yi Peng 3 has been lying still in the Kattegat in the Danish economic zone. The ship has been monitored by the Danish navy.

The police, who suspect sabotage, have previously pointed out the Chinese ship as interesting in the investigation into the damaged cables.

On Wednesday, the crime scene investigation in the Baltic Sea was completed and the results will now be analyzed.

"The preliminary investigation continues, and closer cooperation will be initiated within the framework of the joint investigation group in the near future", says prosecutor Henrik Söderman in a press release.

One cable runs between Finland and Germany and the other between Sweden and Lithuania. The German federal police are also investigating the incident together with Swedish and Finnish authorities.
