The initial Tuesday trade in Asia points in different directions, with somewhat stronger price movements in China.
At lunchtime, the Shenzhen stock exchange had fallen by about 1.6 percent, while the Shanghai composite index was down by about 0.7 percent. The Hong Kong-based Hang Seng is moving in the same direction, down 0.2 percent.
Nikkei 225 is rising by about 0.3 percent while the South Korean Kospi is increasing by 0.7 percent.
On Monday, US President Trump claimed that India had offered to reduce tariffs on American goods to zero. Any response to the move is expected to affect the Asian markets during the second half of the trading day, according to CNBC.
