Arsenal are English league champions again. The Premier League title was already secured in the previous round when league second Manchester City played 1-1 away against Bournemouth and the "Gunners" were effectively champions.
The last league match away to Crystal Palace was therefore without sporting significance, but Arsenal showed masterful skills nonetheless. The final score was 2–1 after goals from Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke.
Youngest ever
Sweden's national team star Viktor Gyökeres started on the bench for Arsenal. Possibly because the London club had a more important task on Saturday. Then they will meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest.
Arsenal youngster Max Dowman started the match in Arsenal's midfield. He became Arsenal's youngest ever player to start a Premier League match, at 16 years and 144 days old.
The last time Arsenal lifted the league trophy was in the 2003–2004 season.
"Spurs" can breathe a sigh of relief
Arsenal's arch-rivals Tottenham still had their survival hopes in jeopardy ahead of the final round.
Going into the final game against Everton, Spurs were two points behind West Ham, who were in the relegation zone. With a significantly better goal difference, one point looked like enough to secure their top-flight status.
The home team showed immediately that they intended to go for it and took control of the match. Just before halftime, the opening goal came.
After a dangerous set-piece situation, João Palhinha hit the post first with his shot. However, the rebound fell back to the Portuguese, who reacted quickest and turned it in to make it 1-0 past a helpless Jordan Pickford. The goal was enough to keep Tottenham in the top flight.
Fernandes breaks assist record
When Bruno Fernandes set up Patrick Dorgu for Manchester United's opening goal against Brighton, the midfielder was credited with his 21st assist of the league season - more than anyone has previously managed in a single Premier League season.
Fernandes shared the previous record of 20 assists with Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry, but now the United star stands alone at the top of the statistics.
The 31-year-old has also contributed nine goals during the season and has been one of the league's most influential players.
Manchester United finished third in the table and thus qualified for next season's Champions League.
