Ocasio-Cortez, 36, often referred to simply as AOC, is now a Democratic member of the House of Representatives. But ahead of the election, she tells ABC she could consider running for president or senator.
AOC emphasizes that she has not made up her mind, either about her political future or whether to have children, but that she has decided to freeze her eggs. She also says she is happy to draw attention to the challenges women face in working life.
Men are running for office, or for that matter, looking for jobs, and people don't think, "How old is he? Will he want to start a family?" she says.
AOC is fourth in the race for the party's presidential nomination with support of just under 9 percent, according to a poll conducted by Real Clear Politics.
