The sports facility Storsjöhallen in Umeå is closing after Legionella bacteria were discovered in a shower, according to a press release from Umeå Municipality.
A few weeks ago, the Navet swimming centre in Umeå also closed after Legionella was detected in a shower. Following this, the leisure administration decided to test all municipal swimming facilities.
"We have now received test results from all swimming facilities and it is only at Storsjöhallen that we have found Legionella bacteria. An investigation and remedial work are now underway," says Åsa Säfsten Boman, operations manager at Fritid bad in Umeå Municipality, in the press release.
New samples will then be taken, and since it takes at least 14 days to receive the results, it will take some time before the swimming centre can reopen.
