In recent years, Olympic bronze medalist Anna Swenn-Larsson has planned her own pre-season workouts, including this summer. After she filmed and posted a clip from one of the workouts on Instagram, her phone started heating up.
More than 10,000 people have saved the clip.
I thought, “What?” But that made me post a few more training clips, and then the followers started coming in, Swenn-Larsson says.
“I’ve only shared a fraction of my training, but it’s great that people like it. Now many people are contacting me and asking when the next training clip will be coming out,” she continues.
Dream job of the future
At 35, Anna Swenn-Larsson is starting to see the end of her long and successful career. However, she has not considered changing gears and becoming a full-time influencer after she hangs up her skis.
But you never know, she says, laughing.
I really love training and have a big interest in fitness. So it would be a dream to work with something like that in the future. But influencers...? Well, I don’t think so.
Swenn-Larsson says the boom in social media has given her a boost of energy. Many of the followers who get in touch are fellow alpine skiers.
“Many alpine skiers think this is fun. What I do isn’t that hard. I film an exercise, for example. It’s not like it takes several hours,” she says.
“Fuck-off mentality”
After last season ended, Anna Swenn-Larsson thought long and hard. In the end, she decided to race in the World Cup for another year, with a slightly different approach.
I hope I can relax more this winter. Have a little more of a fuck-off mentality. It’s not that I don’t care how things go, but I want to lower my shoulders a little. A little more “let’s go.” In the past, I’ve sometimes thought a little too much, because you want to perform so badly, she says.
Anna Swenn-Larsson has around 44,700 followers on Instagram. She is well ahead of Frida Karlsson, who is unchallenged at number one on the list of Swedish winter athletes with the most followers.
