Breman, a former deputy governor of the Swedish Central Bank, is now governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and one of several central bankers who this week signed a statement defending Fed Chairman Jerome Powell in his dispute with US President Donald Trump.
"We remind the Governor of the Reserve Bank to stay within her New Zealand jurisdiction and to adhere to domestic monetary policy. That would have been the advice of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade if the Governor had sought advice, which she did not," Peters writes on X.
Breman's former colleague at the Swedish Central Bank, Erik Thedéen, also signed the joint statement defending Powell.
