Edvin Anger finished fifth in the first distance race of the Tour de Ski, a 10-kilometer classic, and is fourth overall. "It's nice to have a decent race," he told Viaplay.

It was an all-Norwegian podium with Mattis Stenshagen as the winner. It was his first World Cup victory.

I can hardly believe it. It was an unattainable goal for many years and now I stand here as a winner. I was about to retire this spring. I have gone through the entire range of emotions, which is why it is extra fun to stand here today, he tells Norwegian Viaplay.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo came second and retains the lead in the Tour de Ski, after winning the opening sprint race. Emil Iversen came third.

Edvin Anger, who reached the semi-finals in Sunday's sprint, had his best classic-style race of the season. In the season premiere in Ruka, he came ninth.

“Both good”

In Toblach he finished fifth, just under half a minute behind the winner. He is fourth overall.

It's nice to have a decent race. It's a step in the right direction, but I'm still not quite where I want to be, says Anger.

My body is much better than it has been in the last month, and it bodes well for the upcoming trip. It could be a fun tour; it's too bad I screwed up a bit yesterday.

Myhlback disappointed

The rest of the Swedes had much more modest placings. Truls Gisselman came in 18th place and William Poromaa in 24th.

It was tough, really tough. Right now I'm not good enough, Poromaa tells Viaplay.

Alvar Myhlback, 59, was very disappointed afterwards.

"I'm just sad, like. I just want to get out of here, really," he tells Expressen.

He admits that his body felt "really bad" and when asked if an illness was coming, he replies:

"If I get sick again, I'll cancel this season," says Myhlback, and leaves the interview.
