But in the evening, the Left Party made its statement on the issue.
It may take a long time for Sweden to get a government. Then we believe we need stability and a fixed point in the Riksdag. That is why we will cast our vote for Andreas Norlén, Ida Gabrielsson tells SVT.
When asked why V votes for a speaker who comes from its political opponent, Ida Gabrielsson answers:
We haven't managed to gather on this side, we haven't yet managed to have a coffee break between all four parties.
She emphasizes that the decision does not affect V's support for Magdalena Andersson as Prime Minister, but that the party believes Andreas Norlén can take the process forward.
A declaration of war
Irene Wennemo, former State Secretary at the Ministry of Labor (S), says in SVT's Agenda that V's decision will likely provoke strong reactions.
It will be perceived as a declaration of war, she says, pointing out that the government formation process is getting worse and worse.
The Left Party believes that this is the only way to win - to run hard.
Regarding the formation of a government, Wennemo says it will take time.
"People have ended up in two camps. The Left Party is playing a very high game," she says.
Don't want to comment
The Social Democrats decline to comment on V's decision to vote for Norlén. The party also does not want to comment on whether S was informed in advance of V's decision.
