Anders Sörensen became last winter the first Swedish head coach in NHL when he got to take over the classic team as interim coach.
When the club after the season was to find a permanent head coach, Sörensen was one of the candidates.
But on Thursday came the message from Blackhawks that the choice had fallen on Jeff, who the last three seasons had been assistant coach in Tampa Bay. Previously, he had been head coach for Detroit.
What happens with Sörensen is unclear. The 50-year-old, who is part of Tre Kronor's coaching staff during the World Championship, has a contract with Chicago and has earlier said that he can imagine staying even if the club chooses another head coach.
