The artist and author Anders Holmer receives the "Snöbollen" award for "Utflykt", which has been chosen as the best picture book of 2024. The story is about two friends who make their way through enigmatic fantasy landscapes. Holmer describes the journey through the world as "a tribute to children's ability to make the world comprehensible through hopeful playfulness", writes the Bildmuseet in Umeå in a press release.
Anders Holmer is an artist and architect and debuted as a picture book creator in 2017 with "Allting händer!" He has been nominated for the August Prize and his books have also received international attention.
The "Snöbollen" award will be presented on March 14 at Littfest in Umeå. On the same day, the Bildmuseet will also open an exhibition featuring the book's original images.
