Since the beginning of the month, when the ban came into effect, advertisements for hamburgers, gasoline-powered cars and airlines, among other things, have been removed from billboards, tram stops and metro stations in the Dutch capital.

According to local politicians, the measure is intended to help meet the city's climate goals. The goal is for the city to be carbon neutral by 2050, and for residents to halve their meat consumption.

Similar bans on advertising linked to pollution already exist in Haarlem and other Dutch cities.
