Green party is the guarantor for a fair climate policy in a possible red-green government – that says the party's spokesperson Amanda Lind in her congress speech. She also attacks Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party). It is nothing but a weak and unserious leadership.

Amanda Lind holds the speech in front of around 800 Green party members gathered in Västerås for a three-day congress. It will be a kind of introduction to the election year 2026.

She says that egoism, nationalism, and unbridled liberalism have led society in the wrong direction. Instead, a "green narrative" is needed for a new era.

The Green party is the guarantor of a fair society and an ambitious, credible, and fair climate policy in the coming government, she says.

Attack on Kristersson

She then attacks Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

Political leaders like Ulf Kristersson seem to think that the work against climate change is some kind of voluntary work. As if it is possible to pretend that consequences will not come. It is a mockery.

She accuses the government of burying its head in the sand and painting a picture that it is the climate goals that are wrong, rather than the "climate-damaging policy".

It is not just brazen, it is dishonest.

If you choose to turn a blind eye to the disaster that is coming towards us, then you should at least have the backbone to stand for it.

Amanda Lind also talks about the need for a new course in forest policy that steers towards gentle, nature-friendly, and clear-cut-free methods. It's not, according to her, about shutting down the forestry industry, but about finding new business models for landowners.

We must get away from the market failure in forest policy, she says.

"Deliberate lie"

Lind then returns to her criticism of the government and describes it as Ulf Kristersson standing in SVT's "Aktuellt" a few weeks ago and claiming that the Green party stands for a completely opposite security policy than the parliamentary majority.

It is a deliberate lie, and a rhetoric unworthy of a prime minister in a turbulent time.

The Green party voted no to NATO but respects the parliament's decision, she says.

That Ulf Kristersson, for party tactical reasons, chooses to demonize the Green party is nothing but unprofessional and weak leadership. Sweden deserves better.

Lind also tries to boost her party ahead of the election year. The party has the goal of achieving its best result in a parliamentary election ever, which would mean 7.35 percent.

Now one of the most important election campaigns that I will ever be a part of is beginning, she says.
