Last season, there was a storm surrounding the alpine national team. Now, the squad for the upcoming Olympic Games season has been unveiled, and as expected, the stars Anna Swenn Larsson and Sara Hector take their places.

Last season, there was a storm surrounding the alpine national team. According to an anonymous survey from SVT, almost half of the skiers lacked confidence in the team leadership.

In November, the news came that Karin Stolt Halvarsson, alpine and ski cross chief, and Lars Melin, national team manager alpine and ski cross, would leave their positions.

According to Pernilla Bonde, Secretary-General of the Swedish Ski Association, one of the reasons for the changes in leadership was that the national team has economic challenges.

Got OS tickets

Now the economy is expected to look "better", says Per Jonsson, acting national team manager.

It's something we're working on all the time to create the best possible conditions. The last problems are that the budget decisions aren't made until June, we need the conditions before that, said Jonsson to TT during the SOK camp on Crete last week.

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) has already handed out OS tickets to the games in Milano and Cortina next year to Sara Hector and Anna Swenn Larsson, who both naturally belong to the A-national team.

There, Estelle Alphand, Cornelia Öhlund, Hanna Aronsson Elfman, and Lisa Nyberg will also be found next season.

Felix Monsén didn't get a place in the national team last season and then made his own effort. He reached the VM in Austrian Saalbach in February and then got a 16th place in downhill and a 20th place in super-G.

"More support"

Next season, the 30-year-old will continue with his own effort, but he gets support from the association.

I get more support from the association, unclear the exact amount yet. I've got a concrete proposal, said Monsén to TT when he was at the SOK camp.

The only male skier who belongs to the national team's A-group is slalom specialist Kristoffer Jakobsen.

The men's competitions at the Olympic Games will be decided in Bormio and the women's competitions in Cortina.

Category A: Anna Swenn Larsson, Rättvik, Sara Hector, Kungsberget, Estelle Alphand, Åre, Cornelia Öhlund, do, Hanna Aronsson Elfman, Kil, Lisa Nyberg, Åre, Kristoffer Jakobsen, Storklinten.

Category B: Hilma Lövblom, Täby, Moa Boström Müssener, Uppsala, Fabian Ax Swartz, Lidingö, William Hansson, Mälaröarna, Mattias Rönngren, Åre, Gustav Wissting, Lycksele.

Category C: Liza Backlund, Sundsvall, Sophie Nyberg, Åre, Esther Nordberg, Mälaröarna, Astrid Hedin, Sundsvall, Moa Landström, Västerås, Adam Hofstedt, Karlstad, Emil Pettersson, Göteborg.

Felix Monsén, Åre, will continue with his own effort during the season with some support from the Swedish Ski Association.
