The injury occurs less than a year before the home Olympic Games in Milano and Cortina, where Brignone is seen as a challenger for gold in all disciplines except slalom.
It was in the second run of the giant slalom that Brignone lost control and crashed. The Italian won the VM gold in the discipline in February and recently took home the overall victory in the World Cup.
Brignone has taken three OS medals during her career, but not yet any gold.
