The national alpine team is in a period of financial uncertainty.
The budget for the coming financial year has not yet been decided, while the organization has been affected by lost partners and a tougher economic climate.
Opens up individual sponsorship spots
One current issue is that the skiers themselves should be able to help finance their efforts through individual sponsors on the national team's clothing.
According to national team manager Per Jonsson, however, it is important not to affect the existing partner agreements that already finance the operations.
"The ones we have sold and the ones we already have are very important to us. They form the foundation that allows us to run this operation. We wouldn't be able to afford that; it wouldn't work," Jonsson says.
At the same time, the national team is investigating whether there are any available advertising spaces within the regulations.
"We are looking into whether there is any space on the suits. There are also regulations on how many square centimeters of commercial advertising you can have on the suits."
The individual athlete
If there are places that have not been sold, there is the possibility of releasing some places to skiers.
"We also try to take responsibility. On the one hand, we have to be responsible for basic operations, but we also try, as best we can, to consider the individual athlete and their financial conditions to be able to continue in the sport," Jonsson concludes.
The budget for the national alpine skiing team will be decided on in early June.
