The Sweden Democrats' party leader Jimmie Åkesson (SD) demands that Jon Dahl Tomasson should resign as national team captain.

Severe criticism has been directed at Jon Dahl Tomasson after three consecutive losses in the World Championship qualifying rounds, most recently on Monday when Sweden lost to Kosovo at home with 0–1.

Now, the SD leader tells SVT News that he no longer has confidence in Jon Dahl Tomasson and that he should resign.

One should tip a certain Dane that we have significantly increased the repatriation grant, he says.

Late on Monday evening, Jon Dahl Tomasson told Viaplay that he was very disappointed, but that he himself had no plans to resign.

I have a contract with the Swedish Football Association and we are in the middle of the World Championship qualifying rounds. It is of course not good enough, a terrible result tonight, he said.
