Proposals from some mediators have been conveyed to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmaeil Baqaei said at a press conference on Monday, without going into details.
Baqaei also said that Iran will not allow the Strait of Hormuz to be used by its enemies to threaten the country's security.
“Surprise attack”
The statement follows another night of attacks, in which the US targeted Iran for four hours to "weaken Iranian military capabilities," according to the US military command Centcom.
Air defences in Bahrain and Kuwait were also activated overnight. American bases in those countries have been subjected to Iranian retaliatory attacks with drones and missiles several times during the war.
Iran also claims to have targeted Syria overnight. The Revolutionary Guards call it “a surprise attack on the enemy’s special operations command center” and say that the attack is “revenge” for American attacks on the city of Iranshahr.
Jordan is also alleged to have been attacked, including American aircraft stationed at a military base.
Attacks “in memory” of soldiers
Last week, at least two American soldiers were killed in a similar attack on Jordan. President Trump told media overnight that the latest US strike was carried out "in memory" of the soldiers killed.
Incidents are also reported to have occurred in the Strait of Hormuz. “Two oil tankers, which did not follow the rules and tried to enter and exit via the dangerous southern route through the Strait of Hormuz, exploded and were stopped,” the Revolutionary Guards wrote in a statement.
The information has not been confirmed elsewhere, but the British authority UKMTO, which monitors maritime traffic, says a ship in the strait has been set on fire, without providing further information.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on countries overnight to "contribute" to securing shipping through the strait.
Countries must start taking their responsibility and contributing, whether it's equipment or funding, to help bear this burden, he told media in connection with a trip.
