In audio recordings of air traffic control communications, the air traffic controller says, shortly after the crash, that he was focused on another event and got distracted:
I was trying to reach them... we were dealing with an emergency earlier, and I messed up.
Former accident investigator Jeff Guzzetti told The Washington Post that air traffic control was clearly a problem.
The plane was heading straight for them, but the vehicle still started to cross the runway. There are still many unanswered questions.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, according to the AP, that LaGuardia has a shortage of air traffic controllers.
