Both times IFK Göteborg have taken the lead at home at Gamla Ullevi this season, the match has ended in a draw. In the Allsvenskan restart against AIK, “Blue and White” once again took the lead - but it was not a victory.
Instead, AIK turned it around and after five attempts, Gothenburg still have not won at home.
The equaliser came through Taha Ayari - younger brother of Sweden's World Cup player Yasin Ayari - who received the ball outside IFK's penalty area and set up Johan Hove. The Norwegian then found the net in the 35th minute of the match with two strikes.
“Has the most heart”
I cover the ball well, I fight. I'm not the biggest out there, but I have the most heart. Johan (Hove) takes a run and I see it, Ayari tells TV4 at half-time.
The winning goal for AIK came in the 76th minute. Once again it was Ayari who played it forward, but this time it was Axel Kouame who found the net behind Gothenburg goalkeeper Elis Bishesari.
"I'm just happy with our performance. It means a lot (with three points). I love this club and I'm doing everything I can," said Kouame.
“Too weak in the penalty areas”
The home team tried to bounce back and created some good chances in the final minutes, but nothing that resulted in points.
We create enough to get a better result today, but we are too weak in the penalty areas and that is where the match will be decided, says Gothenburg coach Stefan Billborn to TV4.
The positive thing that Gothenburg, or at least Sebastian Clemmensen, can take away is that the winger, with his 1-0 goal, scored his fifth point in the last four Allsvenskan matches.
The big negative is that the team remains in the relegation zone, four points ahead of last-place Örgryte, who also lost to Kalmar 0-3 away. That match was temporarily abandoned due to thunderstorms.
For AIK, the victory means that the team is now tenth in a congested table.
