An example is the country musician Blaze Foley, best known for the song "Clay Pigeons". Last week, he released a new single with the title "Together" on Spotify, despite Foley being murdered in 1989.

I can clearly say that this song is not Blaze, not even close to Blaze's style, says Craig McDonald, at the record company that distributes Foley's music and handles his Spotify page to 404 Media.

In their report, 404 Media also tells about the folk musician Guy Clark, who received a Grammy for best folk music album in 2014 and died two years later. He has also recently released a new song, "Happened to you" on Spotify.

It's a bit surprising that Spotify does not have a security measure for this type of action and I think the entire responsibility lies with Spotify, says Craig McDonald.

The songs have now been removed. According to a spokesperson for the streaming platform, they were removed "because they violate our policy for misleading content".

AI-generated music also appeared on Spotify a week ago with the fictional AI band Velvet Sundown.
