The number of disciplinary cases concerning AI cheating has more than doubled at Swedish universities, according to UKÄ's compilation.
In 2024, 214 students were suspended and 23 were warned for using AI tools in unauthorized ways. In 2023, it concerned 82 and 26 students, respectively.
At the same time, the total number of disciplinary cases is decreasing. Last year, there were 2,261 cases, which is a decrease of approximately 2 percent compared to the previous year.
This marks a continuation of a decreasing trend from 2022 after the number of cases increased sharply during the pandemic years 2020 and 2021.
Other categories of rule violations include cheat sheets, unauthorized collaboration, forgery of documents, disruption of teaching, as well as sexual or ethnic harassment.
