It is Sebastian Samuelsson and Ella Halvarsson, who won in Östersund on Sunday, who have been responsible for both victories in the World Cup.
And Samuelsson would have liked to see the single mixed relay included in the Olympic program.
It is a World Cup distance and if single mixed is to become a competition with the highest status, it must be included in the Olympic program, says Samuelsson.
I'm sure the IBU (International Biathlon Union) is pushing for it. I think it's a good form of competition. The audience likes it, the athletes like it more and more, even though some teams find it difficult to select a woman and a man.
Although Samuelsson and Halvarsson have a couple of World Cup victories in the event, there has not been a Swedish event in the World Championships so far. Since the start of 2019, there have only been two Swedish bronze medals (2019 and 2021).
It's about finding the right tactics and today we had the right strategy, says national team coach Johannes Lukas.
Mixed relay, where two women and two men run, has been included in the World Championships since 2005 and in the Olympics since 2014. Sweden has no Olympic medals in the event, but five World Championships medals.
