The French downhill skier Cyprien Sarrazin has left intensive care at the Italian hospital where he was operated on for head injuries, and can now go home, announces the French Ski Federation (FFS).
"He is in a stable condition. He has left intensive care and is now receiving regular hospital care," says team doctor Stephane Bulle in a statement.
Sarrazin crashed badly during training for the World Cup downhill race on the notorious Stelvio course in Bormio last week. He lost control in a jump, landed on his back, and then lay still after sliding into the safety net at high speed.
The Frenchman was airlifted and operated on for a bleeding in the head.
