The feature is a clip from the documentary "Dox: The Steal - the threat to American democracy" that SVT purchased in connection with the 2024 American election.
The clip shows, among other things, parts of the speech that Donald Trump gave to his supporters on January 6 before storming Congress. The British BBC has come under fire after being accused of having edited the speech in a misleading way.
According to Kvartal, SVT's cut is very similar to the BBC's criticized version. After reviewing the report, SVT has added black boxes in the segment with the symbol "(...)" between Trump's quotes. On the website, SVT writes that the cut has been updated and clarified.
SVT News' director Karin Ekman tells Kvartal that it is good that SVT has been drawn attention to the clip.
"We will now consider how to ensure that short clips in connection with documentaries always have an understandable context," Ekman writes in a statement to Kvartal.
The BBC has apologized for the feature, and CEO Tim Davie and head of news Deborah Turness have resigned. Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against the company.
TT is looking for SVT.
