In December, musical artist Helen Sjöholm, screenwriter Jacke Sjödin, actor Sussie Eriksson and comedian Andreas Nilsson will take to the stage for a Christmas show - "Ritsch ratsch".
It turns all other Christmas shows upside down. It's about taking a new starting point in Christmas music. It looks at Christmas from a slightly different perspective, especially musically. There's lots of music and humor, says Helen Sjöholm, describing the show as a revue.
The theater is bankrupt
But the performance has already encountered a backlash. It was supposed to be staged at the Maxim Theater in Stockholm, but at the beginning of May, the news came that the theater was going bankrupt after a renovation that became too expensive.
The ensemble was "sorry" for the theater, for Stockholm's cultural scene, and for themselves, according to Sjöholm. Tickets were just about to go on sale.
It is difficult to find venues in Stockholm and they are obviously becoming fewer and fewer, which is extremely sad for the city's cultural life, says Helen Sjöholm.
Moving to Vasa Theatre
For a day, the group scouted venues "like crazy." But the rescue turned out better than expected. "Ritsch ratsch" will play all scheduled dates at Vasateatern instead.
It feels extra fun that it's a real theater with everything that has been performed there, not least in terms of humor and farce. That we get to do a performance like this there now feels completely right, says Helen Sjöholm.
There will also be a band on stage led by conductor Mikael Skoglund. "Ritsch ratsch" premieres on December 4th.
