This means that the Afghan women's football team can participate in the qualifiers for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Around 80 players from the Afghan women's team are in exile around the world. The national team recently held training camps in both England and Australia.
"Over the past few years we have played under many names but in our hearts we were always the national team. To hopefully be able to officially carry our flag again is a feeling I can't describe," says player Nazia Ali.
The Islamist fundamentalists who rule Afghanistan do not allow women to play sports.
