The accident occurred at 3 p.m. on Route 209, east of Norrköping. The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance but her life could not be saved.
The cause of the accident is being investigated and the car has been seized, the police wrote on their website.
The road was closed to traffic in both directions during the rescue and cleanup work.
