There was no title defense for Ludvig Åberg at the RSM Classic on Myrtle Beach.
The tough start on Thursday, where the Swede went three over par, put a stop to any top placement during the final week of the PGA Tour's autumn season "FedEx Cup Fall".
On the other hand, he finished the tournament in a fine way, with a flawless round six under par without a single bogey. The 25-year-old was as usual stable from the tee, but excelled with his approach shots and gave himself several short birdie putts.
Åberg finished the tournament at –10, which means a tied 17th place.
American Maverick McNealy won.
Off to Bahamas – for Tiger's tournament
Thus, only one tournament remains for Åberg this season, the Hero World Challenge on Bahamas in early December.
The tournament, where Tiger Woods is the playing host, is of unofficial status and does not give any points on the PGA Tour. Only the very best in the world get to go, and since Åberg is ranked fifth in the world, he is one of the 20 who "tee off" on the paradise island.
Saved the card in the last tournament
Henrik Norlander will not be going there, but he is probably not particularly sad about it. The 37-year-old secured his PGA Tour spot for next season in the very last tournament.
The Swede also finished the tournament at ten under par, after going around –2 on Sunday. This means that he climbed from his 126th place before the week to 120th.
The top 125 on the total FedEx Cup ranking at the end of the autumn season retain their PGA Tour status, while the rest lose it.
I was in the same boat last year, just inside the top 125, and I felt that I learned a lot then. It was tough today, but I'm very happy, says Norlander in Max's broadcast.
