Police officers who intervened after the shooting were shot at, and shot back.

But no police personnel are injured, says the police's press spokesperson Daniel Wikdahl.

The shots at the police were fired in connection with the arrest of a suspected perpetrator in the area. The police also fired warning shots during the shooting, but did not hit anyone.

The alarm came at 15.27 and a police patrol was in the area.

The patrol hears the shots. This also makes it possible to intervene directly, Wikdahl says.

The incident is being investigated as murder, gross firearms offense and attempted murder. The arrested person is an adult and suspected of all crimes.

At this point, we do not suspect that anyone else fired a weapon, Wikdahl says.

Police increase presence

Several people have been summoned for questioning, but they are not suspects.

The information that the victim is related to a person in the gang environment, the police do not confirm.

We are not entirely clear about the context in which this has unfolded. But serious crimes rarely occur in a vacuum, but exactly what it has to do with this time is not entirely clear or something we can discuss, Wikdahl says.

The municipality has opened a citizen's office in the area where people who feel anxious or need support can seek help.

The police will also increase their presence in the district in the coming days.

Yes, we will have more personnel out there, both visible and invisible, Wikdahl says.

"The capital of violence is high"

Katharina von Sydow, chairman of the Police Union, describes the police's work against the serious crimes as "an ultramarathon" at the moment.

"When police intervene during ongoing shootings, there is always a risk. The capital of violence is high. And threats and violence against police are a serious problem," she says in a written statement.

"It is unacceptable. The entire society must act to break this spiral and politics must act united and with continued force."
