Connection to the outside world is at around one percent of normal levels, the organization says on X.

The regime in Tehran cut off the connection between Iran and the rest of the internet shortly after the outbreak of the war. What is available is a state-controlled, isolated internet - called NIN - into which the regime is trying to funnel the people. The only news services that can be accessed are those controlled by the state.

There are ways around the blockade, including via VPN services and satellite connections, but far from all Iranians have the technical and financial capacity to do so.

The regime has also carried out repeated crackdowns on users of the Elon Musk-owned Starlink satellite network.
