The Social Democrats are demanding that the government allow the Swedish Public Employment Service to keep several billion kronor of unused funds – money that has not been used despite high unemployment.

We demand a refund freeze, says the party's labor market policy spokesperson Ardalan Shekarabi at a press conference.

He says, according to a forecast of AF's use of money, the agency will have 3.6 billion left in the budget at the end of the year. Around a billion of that money is in the account for training for the labor market.

There is no shortage of unemployed people who need training, says Shekarabi.

He says that the billion would be enough for 3,200 training places for the unemployed.

– But the money is now at risk of burning inside.
